The Amazing Brentwood 2 opened in 2020 as the second tower on Shape Properties' 28-acre rebuild of Brentwood Town Centre, 62 storeys and roughly 526 strata homes at 1955 Alpha Way. Moving here has almost nothing in common with moving into a tower that fronts a public street, because this one is attached to a shopping centre and shares its service infrastructure. Get the loading plan right and the day is easy. Get it wrong and you spend it waiting behind a delivery truck. We settle it in advance, and the flat rate covers the settling.

You are moving into a shopping centre

That is the honest framing. The residential entrance is off Alpha Way on the east side of the site, but the building itself is joined to a retail centre growing past a million square feet with more than 250 tenants, and the SkyTrain platform at Brentwood Town Centre station is right there too. Three streams of traffic, one piece of ground.

What that means in practice is that a moving truck is a guest in a system built for retail freight. Service routes are shared, delivery bays run on their own schedules, and parkade clearance heights matter more than they would anywhere else, since a truck that does not fit changes the whole approach. We confirm which entrance, which bay and which clearance applies to your unit before we quote, so the crew is not solving it on the morning.

Time it against the mall, not against rush hour

On an ordinary address we schedule around commuter traffic. Here the calendar that matters belongs to the shopping centre. Weekday mornings are calm. Weekend afternoons are not, December is worse, and a long weekend combines both. Nothing about that changes your price, but it absolutely changes how long the day takes and how far your crew walks, so we would rather book you a quiet Tuesday than a convenient Saturday you will regret.

The site is also still under construction. Shape's approved plan runs to eleven towers and about 6,000 homes, five of them finished or building. Hoarding moves, entrances get rerouted, and a plan that worked last spring may not describe the site this month. We check current access rather than trusting last year's answer.

Booking the lift

Elevator reservations come from you, through your strata or the concierge desk, and in a building of this size with heavily used amenity rooms the slots go early. Tell us the window you are given and we build the crew around it.

Our half is preparation. Everything is wrapped, padded and staged inside your home before your reserved time starts, so the reservation gets spent carrying furniture rather than taping cartons. On a 62-storey tower with a long walk from the bay to the lift, that difference is worth more than an extra pair of hands. If the strata wants a certificate of insurance naming the corporation, send us the name at booking and we produce it beforehand at no charge.

What a move here usually is

Traffic runs both ways at Brentwood. People arrive from a Burnaby or East Vancouver house and give up square footage for a view and a train at the door. People leave when a second child makes 700 square feet impossible, usually toward a townhouse further east. There is also a steady trickle of moves inside the development, between towers, which sound simple and are not: two buildings, two elevator reservations, two loading plans, one day.

We scope whichever of those yours is from what you own and the access at both ends, we confirm a number before anything is booked, and that number is what you pay. Call or text for a flat rate quote.

The Amazing Brentwood 2 questions

Asked before booking at The Amazing Brentwood 2.

Why is moving into a mall tower different?

Because you are not arriving at a curb. Tower 2 is physically attached to Brentwood Town Centre, a shopping centre heading for more than a million square feet and 250-plus stores, and everything on wheels shares the same service routes. Retail deliveries have priority windows, the parkade has height limits a five-ton truck cares about, and the busiest shopping hours are the ones you least want to be carrying a sofa through. We work all of that out at quote time.

When is the best time to move here?

Weekday mornings, almost always. On a normal street the enemy is commuter rush hour; here it is the mall. Weekends, long weekends and December are when the site is at its worst for a moving crew, and a Saturday in December is the worst of both. If your dates are fixed we plan around it rather than pretend it does not matter.

Who built it, and how big is it?

Shape Properties, finished in 2020, and it was the second tower to open on the site. It runs 62 storeys with roughly 526 strata homes and more than 25,000 square feet of shared amenity space. For a move that matters mainly as competition: a building this size with amenities that get booked means the service elevator is spoken for well ahead of month end.

Do you need a certificate of insurance?

Many Burnaby stratas require a certificate of insurance naming the strata corporation before a move can happen. If yours does, send us the strata name when you book and we issue the certificate ahead of move day. It costs you nothing extra and it is one less thing between you and your elevator window.
