Marine Landing and the retail cores
Marine Landing, Marine Gateway, and the Marpole Village retail core on Granville near 70th are the hubs, and they are the hardest places to park a truck. A moving truck or container in any of these areas requires a temporary street occupancy permit from the City of Vancouver. You apply online at vancouver.ca/permit-apply, and you pay in advance. The City needs seven to ten business days after payment to post the signs and hood meters. If you are working with only five to seven days, you email engineering.clientservices@vancouver.ca, but approval is not guaranteed. You must bring the address or hundred block, any existing restrictions, and the six-digit meter IDs for the spot. Residents moving in or out are exempt from insurance, but as a business we file a CGL certificate naming the City. We sort the permit when the date is booked so the crew arrives to a legal spot and starts working.
Postwar houses and suite moves
Marpole's housing stock is a mix of eras, and each type sets different expectations for the move. South of 59th toward the river, around Granville and Oak, there are older low-rise rental walk-ups. You book the service elevator through building management, and we build the day around that window. Staging everything to the lobby before the clock starts makes the difference. The Marpole Community Plan directs growth along the Granville, Oak, and Cambie corridors, and that means more high-density moves. Cambie Gardens is a phased redevelopment of the former Pearson Dogwood lands at Cambie between W 57th and W 59th.
