The village stretch of Dunbar Street, roughly from the high 20s down through the shops, is the one part of the neighbourhood where parking takes real planning. Time limits, bus stops, and steady traffic mean the truck needs either a permitted spot or a proper loading plan. West 41st around the Dunbar shops behaves the same way, and both West 16th and King Edward carry enough traffic that we position the truck on the quiet side street whenever the address allows.

Character homes, rebuilds, and laneway houses
Dunbar's stock splits into two eras: the original 1920s to 1940s character homes, and the new builds that have replaced many of them, often three storeys with a basement suite and a laneway house behind. Both come with stairs, and the new builds come with more of them.

South of SW Marine Drive, Dunbar relaxes into Southlands, where the lots turn semi-rural and the driveways get long. Horse properties, workshops, and decades of accumulation in outbuildings make these moves bigger than they look from the street. We ask about every structure on the property so the quote reflects the real inventory, and we bring a plan for the gravel drive.
On the western edge, the blocks along Camosun by Pacific Spirit Park are quiet and straightforward, with the park itself making a pleasant last view from an emptied house.

Do I need a parking permit to move on Dunbar Street?
Usually, yes. The village stretch of Dunbar Street and the shops around West 41st are time-limited, busy corridors where a moving truck cannot simply take the curb. We tell you whether your exact address needs a temporary no-parking permit from the City of Vancouver, and because the city wants several business days of notice, we sort it when you book rather than on move day.
The house sits well back from the lane. Is a long carry extra?
No, it is priced in. Dunbar lots are among the deepest on the west side, and a truck in the lane can still be a real walk from the back door. Carry distance is one of the inputs to your flat rate, so we measure the actual path at quote time and the number you confirm already includes it. There is no per-metre fee waiting at the end.
Can you handle a Southlands property with a long driveway and outbuildings?
Yes, and it needs honest scoping. Southlands runs to big lots, long gravel drives, and the tack rooms, sheds, and garages that come with horse country. Outbuildings hide a surprising amount of inventory. Tell us everything on the property when you get your quote and the flat rate covers the real job.
Our home is a new build with three floors. How do you price the stairs?
By scoping them before you book. Dunbar has been rebuilding for years, and the newer homes often stack three storeys over a basement, sometimes with a laneway house behind. Interior flights add time, and time is what the flat rate is built from. We ask about the layout at quote time so the price reflects the actual house.
Can you move us from Dunbar to UBC or Point Grey?
Yes, and we do it often. The drive is short, but UBC housing and Point Grey buildings have their own loading rules and elevator bookings. We check the destination access when you book so the right truck shows up with the right plan on both ends.
