Scoped to your move
No one-size price list. Your rate reflects your inventory, your stairs, your parking, and your kilometres.
Moody Centre movers who know the mid-rise protocols, the Brewery Row traffic, the steep Chines slopes, and the Highway Use Permit rules. One flat rate, confirmed up front.
Every Moody Centre quote is a flat rate scoped to your move: what you own, the access at both ends, and the distance between them. No hourly meter ticking while you wait on a loading zone.
No one-size price list. Your rate reflects your inventory, your stairs, your parking, and your kilometres.
Someone who has carried a couch up a Vancouver walk-up reviews every quote before it goes out. The price we confirm is the price you pay.
New couch? Extra stop? We review the price with you before move day. Nothing changes without a conversation.
Every Moody Centre move packs the same way: our uniform tubs fill the truck floor to ceiling, wall to wall, then the furniture goes in. No loose boxes stacked on your couch.
Moody Centre is the historic core of Port Moody, sitting at the head of Burrard Inlet. The CPR main line runs east-west through the district. Clarke Street was the original commercial core, and St Johns Street came later as the auto arterial. The residential half lies south of St Johns and climbs the Chines, a steep forested slope on a grid with back alleys. Moves here range from mid-rise buildings near the SkyTrain to heritage homes on large lots up the Chines. One flat rate, confirmed up front.
Port Moody adopted the Transit-Oriented Area designation for Moody Centre and Inlet Centre stations in July 2024. The bylaw allows up to 20 storeys within 200 metres of the station, 12 storeys between 201 and 400 metres, and 8 storeys between 401 and 800 metres. The built reality as of August 2026 is mid-rise rather than tower. The tallest buildings near the station are Moody Yards, 50 Electronic at 3131 Murray and six storeys, Sonrisa at 3122 St Johns and four storeys, and 55 Klahanie at six storeys. Nothing taller is up yet.
Every mid-rise move runs through a protocol. You book the service elevator, and we provide the certificate of insurance naming the strata. Loading access varies from a proper dock to a signed lay-by, so we confirm the loading route with the building before the crew arrives. Address pins can sometimes point at a retail entrance rather than the residential one, so we verify the exact loading access in advance. The flat rate covers the move from the curb to your door, and we factor the elevator wait times and loading logistics into the scope.
Murray Street runs through Brewery Row and features the Parkside Brewery at 2731 Murray and Yellow Dog Brewing at 2817 Murray. Murray is a two-to-four-lane street with one-way segments that require precise truck routing. Clarke Street sits one block north as a two-way secondary road with two to three lanes. Neither Clarke nor St Johns is one-way. St Johns Street is the main arterial, two-way and carrying four to six lanes at 50 km/h with short divided stretches.
We route around Barnet Highway, a divided primary running west to Burnaby, and Ioco Road, a two-lane secondary at 50 km/h. The Ioco Road corridor leads to the Port Moody Recreation Complex at 300 Ioco Road. We time the drive around corridor peaks and put the slow windows to work as loading time. Drive time is an input to your flat rate, never a meter. The price we confirm before you book is the price you pay. Call or text Nash Moving for your flat-rate quote.
The neighbourhood climbs from St Johns Street southward into the Chines. This area features a grid of narrow, steep, lane-served streets backed by alleys. The housing stock is dominated by 1.5 to 2 storey wood-frame gabled homes in the Frontier vernacular style, built on large 66-foot lots. The Heritage Conservation Area is formally designated in the OCP, and the current OCP, Port Moody 2050, was adopted on April 28, 2026.
Moves in the Chines involve honest inventory on storey-and-a-half layouts and interior stairs that follow the grade. Driveway staging is common, and the narrow lanes mean the truck must park carefully to avoid scraping curbs or vegetation. First concrete sidewalks appeared in 1926, and in some sections farther up the slope, curbs and sidewalks have never been installed. We scope the slope, the stairs, and the access conditions at quote time. The flat rate reflects the real work, whether you are in a heritage gabled home or a newer rebuild on the same block.
Port Moody has clear rules for street storage and heavy vehicles. If you need a storage container on the street or a permit for extended loading, the city requires a Highway Use Permit under Bylaw 1528-C. Applications must be submitted online at forms.portmoody.ca at least ten working days before the planned date. There is no counter or paper route. The city mandates a $5 million liability policy with the City named co-insured.
Fees follow the 2026 Fees Bylaw No. 3524 and depend on the road class. A local road is $271.84 for the first week and $135.92 for each week after. A major road is $447.74 per week. A residential bin sitting on the right-of-way is $106 per month. We advise on the permit process when you book and confirm the specific rules for your address. If the city engineering team requires details, we coordinate with engineering@portmoody.ca or 604-469-4500 to keep your move compliant.
Moody Centre is anchored by the Moody Centre SkyTrain and West Coast Express station off Spring and Murray streets. Rocky Point Park sits at the foot of Moody Street and offers water access. The Port Moody Station Museum at 2734 Murray preserves the area's railway history. PoMoArts, the old city hall, sits at 2425 St Johns Street and hosts community activity.
Port Moody City Hall is located at 100 Newport Drive, which is about two kilometres east in Inlet Centre and not part of this neighbourhood. We know the landmarks and the road hierarchy. We confirm your exact address and access plan before the truck arrives. One flat rate, confirmed up front. Call or text Nash Moving for your flat-rate quote.

Port Moody designated the Transit-Oriented Area around Moody Centre and Inlet Centre stations in July 2024. Within 200 metres of the station the city allows up to 20 storeys, though the built reality as of August 2026 consists of mid-rise blocks rather than full towers. The buildings closest to the station are six storeys and under. A mid-rise move needs a booked service elevator, a certificate of insurance naming the strata, and a confirmed loading route. We handle the insurance certificate, check the dock access, and confirm the elevator window before your move date. The good summer windows book weeks out, so we ask about the building rules first.
St Johns Street is a two-way arterial with four to six lanes and a 50 km/h speed limit. Lane space is tight and traffic flow is constant. We usually avoid staging on the main strip unless your driveway is directly accessible from the curb. Side streets provide better access and less conflict with the arterial. We stage where the truck can load and unload safely without blocking the corridor. The flat rate covers the distance from the curb to your door, so we find the best spot close by. You get the same flat rate whether we move you in a quiet window or during peak traffic, but we schedule the drive to keep your move efficient. Call or text Nash Moving for your flat-rate quote.
Car-Free Day closes St Johns Street between Queens and Moody streets on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 12 pm to 5 pm. The closure limits truck access and brings pedestrians to the corridor. If your move date lands near that afternoon, we check for the closure and adjust the staging plan. We plan the move around the event so the truck stays clear. The Art Out Side Festival also runs August 7 to 16, 2026 at venues across Port Moody, which can bring activity to the streets. We review the calendar for your specific date to avoid surprises.

The residential half of Moody Centre lies south of St Johns Street and climbs the Chines, a steep forested slope. The streets form a grid with back alleys and feature 1.5 to 2 storey wood-frame homes in the Frontier vernacular style. The lots are large, measuring 66 feet on the survey chain. The streets are narrow and lane-served, which requires careful truck positioning. Some homes are original heritage stock with a storey and a half of living space and interior stairs. Farther up the slope, curbs and sidewalks have never been installed in certain sections. We scope the slope, the stairs, and the narrow turns at quote time. The flat rate reflects the access conditions, so the price you confirm covers the real move.
